The Writer

A.J. Miele is the author of an epic novel of romance, mystery, and science fiction.  He is a native of the District of Columbia and its suburbs. In pursuit of his career as a writer, he has worked as a telephone relay operator and English tutor for deaf people and been a full-time Visiting Student among deaf students at Gallaudet University, the only liberal arts university in the world for individuals who are deaf.  He has shelved books at the National Library of Medicine and driven a cab in Washington, DC, and its suburbs.  As a Waiter in an Arena Stage production of The Matchmaker, he fumbled to pick up a table and silverware upset by a nutty character.  He typed the catalog at Sloane's Auction Gallery and handled cash in a kiosk at a Texaco gas station.  He has been a courier for a radiology firm and a temporary secretary for countless other firms.  He bailed hay and fed calves on a ranch and farm in Colorado and he hefted shoulder-high loads of dos por cuatros and cuatro por cuatros on a Spanish-speaking construction crew in Miami.  Not forgetting that he has a bachelor's in English and a master's in American Literature, he is presently a researcher for a major labor union.
